Around early 2015 I told my Dad I wanted to get a warehouse. I know, I know…wanting a warehouse is not a “typical” desire, but I strongly believed if we were able to obtain that type of space, which I felt we needed…it would give the business a strong opportunity for growth & expansion. Intended Use
The intended purpose is to redevelop our very own warehouse into a Health Center & Pharmacy that will not only serve as headquarters for the non-profits, but also incubate other businesses through leased office suites, and accommodate an array of community & business usage through the ground level’s open-concept space.
To do so, this multi-million dollar plan includes adding new, modern construction & expanding on the 16,000 sq ft existing building & lot structure. Having the building as an operating base to conduct our business will allow us the opportunity to utilize our own resources to foster & facilitate our growth…resulting in greater stability, better performance, and longer sustainability. This also means being positioned to provide more employment opportunities for hard-working individuals that will assist us in operating our programs and services. These programs include: DGE’s Affordable Housing Initiatives; Community Service Scholarship Program; a Health, Wellness, & Finance Program; and lastly, Fiscal Sponsorship, where we allocate our own resources for other programs & projects to leverage to meet and fulfill their own goals and mission.
The event space design will provide a comfortable and spacious environment where our future community guests are afforded the possibilities of creative freedom. From receptions, lectures, town hall & community meetings, scheduled health & fitness activities, children’s events, small gatherings, seminars, live performances, after-school programs, and private functions, the space available is ideal to nurture the needs & goals of others within the community.

Besides all the great factors mentioned above with the building’s long-term intended use, the property’s redevelopment will accelerate public and community engagement. Specifically, this project’s development compliments The City of Chicago’s Planning & Development’s mission of promoting the comprehensive growth and sustainability of neighborhoods citywide, while also encouraging the participation of other businesses and community developers. The most rewarding benefit is that we are able to serve as platform to provide employment opportunities during the construction phase, and over 50+ long-term secured jobs having the facility operating yearly. This accomplishment in turns provides viable, economic vitality throughout the city.
Strategic Planning & Implementation
Yes, this is a huge undertaking, but I’ve witnessed and been apart of two phenomenons in my life. I’ve seen a small church and a small school both grow into its full potential because the leaders dared to step out on faith and combine it with hard work.
